Cyberbullying

In the hopes of attaining another 16 credits this school year to get another raise next September, I'm taking a bunch of classes through the district. One of them that I started today is called "Growing Up Online." Tonight's class session was very interesting. The instructor talked all about how kids these days have their entire social lives on the internet - meaning they instant message, myspace, facebook, email, live chat, etc. Kids don't socialize face to face anymore! Everyone hides behind the computer and lives in a complete cyber world. It's kind of scary if you think about it. There's so much violence that goes on online that it's just amazing. This year, Nevada actually wrote it into the constitution that cyberbullying is illegal and punishable by law! That's how bad it is getting! I just am amazed at how very little parents know about what their kids do online! I can't imagine growing up and my parents getting me a cell phone with internet access and having my own computer in my room and being allowed to stay in my room all day and talk to my friends. There's no way they would have allowed that to happen! I think that it's very sad how little parents are parents these days and how much freedom kids have.

Well that's my preaching for the day! I had a really great weekend. Pat and I went bowling Friday night and I won! Woot! I love bowling! Then we hung out at the casino and saw some friends. Saturday night we went on a double date to the Harrah's Improv Comedy. Omg I have never laughed so hard at a comedy show before. All three people were hilarious!!! Afterward we went to the piano bar at Harrah's. I don't think I've ever been in there before. It's really fun! Sunday we went to a bbq at a friend's house and his parents. By the end of the day I felt like I was going to explode!

Last weekend was a blast too! I went to visit Missy in LA and we had so much fun! Friday we went to dinner and had a drink at a bar down toward the beach (I think? lol) and then hung out at her apt. Saturday we watched the game with Michigan alumni at a bar by the beach, walked Venice Beach, and then went out in Hollywood. Oh man, what an interesting night!!! So fun, though :)
