Friday was a great day. We had staff development, which meant no kids, AND I wasn't presenting so I was just able to sit and listen. We had our initial staff meeting first and much to my surprise, I got another award. This time it was on behalf of a parent of a student in my class. The ironic part is that it was a parent that upset me the day before! I didn't know this existed, but apparently there is a program through CCSD that allows anyone to give a CCSD employee a "rave review" and compliment them on a job well done. So, this parent did just that. She thanked me for always writing positive comments on her son's papers as it gives him a boost of confidence each time. Who knew something so small could mean so much? My principal presented it to me at the staff meeting, read the compliment, and handed me a certificate. It was a great start to the day!!!
Friday night Pat and I celebrated my great day with dinner at Cafe Chloe. Yum. Then we went to a play in which his secretary was playing a big part. It was hilarious! It was a small theater, but it was jam packed. Saturday we met Ryan and Becky for a motivational seminar with Bill Rancic - the winner of the first apprentice, the guy from "The Ghost Whisperer", and Chris Gardner - whom "The Pursuit of Happyness" was based upon. All three were pretty good, although the ghost guy was a little weird. I can say, though, that I was motivated when I left! After that we went to Zowie Bowie and met up with Ryan and Becky. It was such a fun night!
Sunday I went to a birthday party for one of my students at Red Rock bowling. It was very cute. Then I made dinner for about 10 of our friends. It turned out really good! I made lasagna and garlic bread and salad. Yum. The 24 premier was on that night so Pat and I camped out in front of the TV and watched it. Jack's back!!!
Yesterday I went and test drove the Nissan Altima coupe and the Mazda 6. I really liked both of them. I think I like the Nissan better though. Tomorrow or Thursday I'm going to drive the Hyundai Genesis coupe and then make my decision. I'm SO excited to get a new car. All three of these cars come with awesome features that were expensive add-ins last time I was car shopping. I'm just excited to have a nice car that I enjoy driving :) So, we shall see what happens! My job was just to pick 3 cars I like and Pat's going to do the rest. Thank goodness I have him!
