I am totally exhausted! My mind will not stop running in a million circles and I can't seem to get caught up on sleep. My mom came on Wednesday night and we had a blast the entire time she was here. We did lots of cleaning, well I should say "she" did lots of cleaning, and shopping, and laughing. Friday she came to school with me to meet my class and hang out. It was Roger Bryan day and we celebrated Roger Bryan's birthday (the actual man). He came to school and the kids sang songs and presented him with cards and poems. It was really cute. Hearing 600 kids sing together is really quite cute. Then we went back to the classroom and my mom read with some of the kids and hung out. When she left they gave her hugs and she was impressed. I really do have a nice class this year. They're so loving! We really did do many specific things while my mom was here, just hang out and enjoy each other's company. She hooked me up with some new stuff like a water jug dispenser and a new toaster that I desperately needed. She's a good mom :)
I dropped her off yesterday morning and of course bawled as I drove away from the airport. I HATE saying goodbye to people at the airport. It's the worst. I wish my parents lived here so I could see them whenever I want. So needless to say yesterday wasn't a good day. I was depressed all day long. It was nice to spend some time with Pat though since we haven't really seen much of each other since last Tuesday. He was out of town for a few days for work and then had other things going on in town. I went to his softball game last night and for the first time in awhile I was cold sitting outside! It's that time of year again!
Today I had to sit through a 3 hour training to learn to be a trainer for this new depth of knowledge for students. Basically the district is taking old techniques and procedures and tweaking them into new stuff in which we will have to adopt. I hate crap like this. The old stuff works fine. My principal chose me to represent our school to get a good idea of what it takes to train the staff on new concepts, and as an added bonus I get paid extra. Woot. I actually am excited to be able to do this though because it's good experience for me and it's something different! :)
