This trip has been so much fun I can't even begin to tell you! We are still here in NY, enjoying our last few days. It feels like we've been gone forever! We got in around 6am Friday and dropped our bags off at our hotel and headed down to Wall Street. We wanted to go inside of the stock exchange but you can't do that anymore since 9/11. It was cool to see the outside though. I'd never seen it in person. Then we did a little shopping and some more sightseeing down in the financial district before meeting up with Tiffany and Dan for lunch. It was kind of funny to travel that far and meet up with them when we don't even see them that much in Vegas! After a much needed nap, we went to a comedy show, which was hilarious. Then we headed back to Times Square and got hit up for another comedy show so we thought "what the heck?" and went to that one too. The first one was better but it was still fun!
Saturday we got up and headed over to the Plaza to check in. HOLY COW. That hotel is amazing. The minute you walk in the door you feel like the most important person there. They do everything for you! And our room....omg....AMAZING. We had a courtyard view, which was beautiful and you could open up the window and step onto a small ledge to look out. We had robes and slippers and when you turned the TV on, it said "Welcome to the Plaza, Miss Thomas" (I booked it under my name - hehe). And the best was when Pat called down to ask a question and they called him Mr. Thomas LOL. Anyway, everything about the room was just incredible and I was blown away. We decided to take advantage a few hours of Saturday afternoon we spent in the room drinking and hanging out. Then we went to Mickey Mantle's restaurant to watch the NFL draft and Tiff and Dan came to hang out again. Saturday night we went to see Artie Lange (from the Howard Stern show) perform. He was doing a charity event so we went to see him do stand up comedy. Can you tell we love comedy? It was really good and we had a blast!
Sunday we went shopping on fifth avenue, although neither of us bought anything. We were able to see the AXA building and go into St. Patrick's cathedral. Then we checked int our last hotel in Times Square. We were so exhausted that we just went to his work welcome buffet and came back to the room and crashed. Yesterday, Monday we went to see the Statue of Liberty. Last time I was here you couldn't even take a ferry to stop on the island, it just stopped at Ellis Island. But we were able to go and even go up into the pedestal. It was really neat because after climbing the steps inside, you could look up and see the inside of the statue. It's actually quite interesting how they built her! Then we came back to get ready and went to the awards banquet at the hotel. I am so proud of Pat for his accomplishments last year! It was pretty neat to see him recognized and rewarded at his company's national 150th anniversary celebration :) After the ceremony, we went with a few other people to a rooftop lounge. It was really cool! The Empire State Building was right across the street and it was so pretty! The weather was great too, so it was a perfect night to hang out at a place like that!
Today we are going shopping on Canal Street and then he has another special dinner tonight for another accomplishment. I'll update again when we get home tomorrow....
