Lots of work!!!

Yesterday I went in to my school and saw my classroom. The school is set up kind of weird in that they have two wings - one upper and one lower el - and each wing is like a circle. My classroom is actually pretty big. I was only able to look at it for a few minutes because the kids are still in school and they were coming back from an assembly so I didn't want to be a distraction. After seeing my classroom, I sat with the literacy specialist for like an hour going over some things and she printed off alot of the benchmarks for me. Not to mention gave me a few resource books to look over. Her room is FULL of resources and books. And from the looks of it, the entire school is filled with them as well. All the teachers kept constantly telling me how lucky I was to get in this school and teach 4th grade. I guess 4th grade there is the ideal grade and the other 3 4th grade teachers are awesome. So sounds like I have a good group. And my principal couldn't be more awesome. I already feel comfortable with her and I've only met her twice. She told me that as a new teacher, their school provides up to $300 for supplies, so I get to take the school credit card and go shopping! woo hoo!!!! I already bought a crap load of posters the other day (which were super cheap by the way) and raided my local dollar store. Starting next week I can get in my classroom so I'm sure I'll be doing more shopping then. I just hope the teacher now doesn't leave it dirty. It didn't look to bad when I saw it.

The literacy specialist also gave me my Language Arts teacher guide and a textbook and a math book. I want to just dive in and start planning, but I don't want to get a head of myself. Next Wednesday I have to go in to my school along with the other new teachers and we're going to get a crash course on policies and procedures for our school. Then I guess it's going to be the same sort of thing Thursday and Friday too. I have alot on my schedule the next couple weeks. I decided to stay on board at Justice until Sept 9 so I'll have an entire week to devote to my classroom. I think that should be enough time since I'll be able to get in my room starting next week so I can do a little at a time. So between Justice and contracted days at my school over the next three weeks, this Saturday is my last day off until Sept 10. Geez, that blows. But oh well, most of my time will be spent doing fun things with my classroom! :)

Hmmmm, what else? I don't really have anything new to report. The painters are coming to paint the condo next week. It's gonna look so nice. Joey bought new blinds to put up after it's been painted. It's going to look like a totally new place!
