I don't know what the deal is by my schedule is weird this week. I was off Friday-Sunday, then I went to work yesterday, and now I'm off again today. I'm not complaining that I'm not working, but it's making my schedule all off. I have an exciting day planned today, let me tell you. As soon as Joey gets up we are cleaning up the house and putting lots of stuff into storage. I have a unit right now and I'm thinking I may have to upgrade to a larger one because mine right now is stuffed to the max. We're hoping the painters can come the first week of August and get everything done so we can put it up for sale. I'm kinda nervous because I've never sold or been involved in the selling of a house or condo ever. So I have NO idea of the time frame to expect. And we're going to refrain from really looking at any houses until we have someone interested in the condo because we can't pay for two morgages. So needless to say, I am hoping that it sells fast so we can get a house soon. My goal is to have the house by October so my family can stay with us when they come to visit. I can't wait to get a house. It's so fun to decorate and do all the fun stuff. Not to mention I look forward to having some sort of a backyard to BBQ and for Kayo to run around in. AND, Joey said once we get a house, we're getting a girl bull terrier (what Kayo is) so we can breed them and make a crap load of money. I just want a puppy. I've never had one. So I have alot going on the next couple of months.
I called the school district yesterday and their period of early hires is FINALLY over. This whole process has pissed me off to no end. I don't think I've written about it yet so here goes. EVERY night (and I am not exaggerating at all) they have a story about the teacher shortage. They've talked about recruiting from the military and everything. All the while I've been going to schools trying my hardest to get this stupid job and so far nothing. Well I went on that interview a couple weeks ago in which they told me that they wanted me for the job. The process is that once a principal interviews you, he/she goes to the district to recommend you for hire, then the district contacts you to accept the position. So when the principal went to the district, they wouldn't let her hire me because I wasn't in the "early hire pool", which in my opinion is ridiculous. The people in this pool are all the people that they have recruited from out of state and they guarantee them a job. So basically they way that I went about filling in my application and doing my initial interview with the district didn't help me. I should have done everything as though I was still living in Michigan because otherwise I would have a freakin job right now. It just seems like it's so complicated to get a job here, even though they are like 1200 teachers short. Don't you think that perhaps they wouldn't be so short if they just hired people like normal instead of having all these ridiculous procedures?! Ugh, the more I think about it the most pissed off I get. I am hoping that now that this period is over and it's ok for everyone ELSE to be hired, I'll start getting more calls. It just seems like getting this darn job has been more disappointment than anything. I pray that I really love teaching, otherwise it's all been for nothing.
