So we had a staff meeting this morning before school and our principal told us that because we are being rezoned next year, we are losing approximately 70 kids. Which means, that they needed to surplus 6 teachers out. I still don't understand the math behind it, but that's what she said. Two positions are totally being wiped out since the teachers are leaving, which means that there are 4 teacherse that now have to be surplused. Obviously if no one volunteers to transfer, then they will take the bottom 4 people on the seniority list. Although I am a new teacher, I think I will be safe. I know for sure of 2 people that have been hired after me and I'm pretty confident that 2 other teachers out of the bunch will either be leaving or transferring. But still, I was so nervous all day. I would be so sad if they said that I had to transfer to another school. As much as I bitch about teaching sometimes, I really do love it and I absolutely love my school. It's the best. I really could not have asked for a better school to start in. Everything is great. I love my grade level, I love the people I teach with, I love the administration, the office staff is awesome, and my kids are great (well most of the time). So I think I'll be safe as far as staying at the school next year, BUT I doubt I'll be teaching 4th grade. I'm the lowest in seniority in 4th grade so I'm sure I'll be the first to be placed in another grade. I told my principal that I would take any grade except kindergarten. It's a guarantee that I will cry everyday if I teach kinder. God help me. There's no way I could go from teaching area and perimeter to counting to 10. no way. I don't know how primary teachers do it, but I never could. Well, never say never, but I don't think I'd like it. So anyway...
Tonight Mike and I strolled the strip for a little while. It was fun just to go down there and hang out. I don't go down there much and everytime I do I always tell myself that I should do it more often. It was freezing tonight so we didn't do too much walking outside. I don't know what is up with this funky weather. It's supposed to be back in the 90s by the weekend I think. Today it didn't get past 60.Yuck.
Two more days of school until track break.......
