Even though I haven't started teaching yet, I already love my job. I went in to school today and there were messages left on my board. I haven't gotten confirmation yet, but I think they are from my fellow 4th grade colleagues. One message said "Only 180 days left of school" (which is the entire length of the school year! haha), another said "4th grade rocks!", and another said "Roses are red, violets are blue, we can't start school-, not without you!". It was really cool and it makes me really feel like I belong in my school. Plus, Joey is like the celebrity at my school now and my principal LOVES him so that helps me out too - haha. He came in to help me a few days and one day I introduced him to my principal. Somehow it came out that he was a racing instructor so she immediately pitched the idea for him to come on career day and possibly bring one of their race cars to show the kids. Then when she introduced me to all the teachers on our first day of school, she said "this is Lindsay Thomas, the new 4th grade teacher, and her boyfriend is a racing instructor so he's gonna come on career day!" It was pretty funny and now when he comes in, some of the office staff and a few of the teachers know who he is! It's cute actually. But anyway, while I was in my class today, I was going through paperwork and getting organized and I just sat in my room and smiled, realizing that I was finally attaining my dream job. It's still so surreal and I swear to you I could not have gotten in to a better school. I can't wait to start the school year and work with my colleagues. I can't say enough about how awesome everyone is and how excited I am.
I guess that's about it for now. Nothing new really to report!!!
