Moving dilemma

Ok so I am totally stuck on what to do. I just got some quotes from some car transport companies and it looks like it's going to cost me around $900 to just move my car. So here is my dilemma. Do I just suck it up, pay the $900 plus $200 for a plane ticket? OR do I drive out there and save a little bit of money? Here is what I figured it would cost to drive...

Hotel for at least 2 nights - $ 200 (estimating high here)
Gas - $150
Food - $100

So total out of pocket expense would be about $450. BUT, then again I could get lost or something could happen to my car on the way out there. So do I risk that to save some money? A perk though would be that I can shove boxes in my car, which would save me money on moving the rest of my crap since the moving companies charge by cubic feet.

Most of the moving companies have quoted me about $1000-$1350. To rent a small u-haul truck it would cost $1650. So it's obviously cheaper to pay someone to move my crap.

Ok so what do you think I should do about my car situation? Any comments are welcome :)
